BNL HET & NT: misc. visitor info
If your stay will be longer than 30 days, you need to
check in at the Personnel Office to officially activate your
appointment. See our secretary, Amber Aponte.
As is standard travelling these days, the best way to get cash is not
with travelers checks, but
from an ATM machine. There is an ATM machine in the
lobby of the cafeteria in Berkener Hall,
Bldg. 488 on the
site map.
This ATM is connected to VISA,
MasterCard, CIRRUS, PLUS, and
NYCE networks; most European and Japanese cards appear
to work.
There are a number of banks located nearby. A branch of Teacher's
Federal Credit Union is located on site in Bldg. 129.
You can cash paychecks at Teacher's with a BNL ID card.
To obtain money from a cash advance, go to the
Cashiers office, Bldg. 400, between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. daily.
Travelers checks in dollars only can be cashed at the Credit
Union under a member's account. Travelers checks in
foreign currencies cannot be cashed on site or anywhere nearby;
if you need to do so, do it at the airport.
The telephone in your office can be used to dial long distance (9-area code-
number (add a 1 after the 9 if the call is outside the 631 srea code)).
To receive calls the number is 631-344-Your Extension.
To transfer incoming calls (from off-site only), depress the "xfer" button on
your phone once, dial the last four digits of the telephone number to which
you wish to transfer the call, inform the person answering that you are
transferring a call, and replace the receiver.
There is a fax machine in Bldg. 510A, room 1-56b;
the fax number is 631-344-5568. After hours, access
to the room with the fax machine is allowed with
your library card. As a fallback, there is also
a fax in the Post Office, Bldg. 179; 631-344-3000.

closed on weekends. Access during these times is by I.D. card. Please see
the secretary if you wish to borrow the card. It must be returned after each use for
benefit of the other visitors in the Theory Group. However, if you are
long-term, you may get a card of your own. To request your own library card, see Cindy McQuilken
in the Physics Library.
One copying machine is available on the second floor in the Library.
