The LIRR also stops at the Mastic-Shirley stop on the Montauk branch. This is the closest station to the laboratory (about 10 mins vs. 30 mins. from Ronkonkoma), but there few daily stops. Please refer to the LIRR timetable.
There is a shuttle from the lab which meets the train at Ronkonkoma during the week. Due to limited seating, a reservation must be made for all arrivals and departures. You can reach the transportation office at x2535 or via email at transportation@bnl.gov. On Monday through Friday, if you take the train from Penn. Station at 7:39 am, arriving Ronkonkoma at 8:59 am, a BNL van will be waiting to take you from Ronkonkoma to BNL. The BNL van leaves Bldg. 400 at 4:00 pm, to meet the train that leaves Ronkonkoma at 4:46 pm, arriving Penn. Station at 6:08 pm.
